Letter of Intent to become a coach at CrossFit True

I joined CrossFit True 5 years ago and before that I didn’t really have a good fitness regimen. I

mostly hated sports, I was skipping PE class. The only activity I enjoyed throughout my life that

needed fitness was biking. This place changed all that low-key hatred toward fitness and my body.

This place gave me space and showed me how I could enjoy experimenting with what my body is

capable of. It gave me a community and friends in a time when I had no one other than Frida. And oh

what a wonderful community this is with so many shining personalities and interesting

backgrounds! Wherever the wind will blow us in the future, this place will always be my True

CrossFit Home!

I want to be an instructor for two reasons. Firstly, because the thought that I could be more useful in

this community excites me and after 5 years of “lurking” around, I feel like it is time to step my game

up and start contributing to it. Secondly, out of full self-interest, I want to become a better athlete so

I can maintain this meat tower in a good condition for a long-long time. I want to learn everything

related to how the human body operates, expresses force and maintains longevity, a.k.a remains fit,

which CrossFit is about. The Sport of Fitness. The best way to learn? As the Latin proverb says:

docendo discimus - by teaching, we learn.

Being a coach is not a small feat and comes with a lot of responsibility. People put their trust into

you believing that you don’t just have their best interest in mind, but also have the knowledge to

help them and know your limits and acknowledge when something is outside of your expertise.

Why would someone want me to be their coach? I pride myself to be a highly analytical person and

someone who chases excellence. In combination these skills allow me to continually progress on the

never-ending path of being a good coach. Am I the best coach you can get today? No. Not even close.

But I promise to be better for you tomorrow than I was today.
